I almost forgot how much I love this song. In fact, I actually wanted to use some of the lyrics for my senior quote:

…and your love will be warm nights with pockets of moonlight

spotlighting you as you drift, the actor in this play.

And you walk across the stage, take a bow, hear the applause,

and as the curtain falls, just know you did it all:

the best that you knew how, and you can hear them cheering now.

So let a smile and show your teeth, cause you know you lived it well.

But alas, the world did not revolve around me when I was 18, and this little diddy was simply too long. So I settled for this nugget from Ani DiFranco:

I do it for the joy it brings

because I’m a joyful girl

because the world owes me nothing

and we owe each other the world.

But guess what—I didn’t even listen to Ani DiFranco. I’M A POSER, Y’ALL!
